  • Who is eligible?

    All SPX employees are eligible to receive preferred pricing on pet insurance for their dogs and cats of any breed or age.
  • When can I enroll?

    You can enroll anytime! The effective date is typically the first of the following month, and you will see your effective date when you enroll. There are no waiting periods for accidents, illnesses, and wellness care after your effective date.
  • How much will this coverage cost?

    By enrolling through your employer, you’ll pay less for this coverage than you would for individual coverage you’d find on your own.

    Rates vary based on your pet’s age, breed and location. You can get a quote for exact rates, however policies typically cost between $30-$60. If you have more than one pet, you can get an additional 5% discount. Additional savings if your employer facilitates payment via payroll deduction.

    There are also two routine care plans available that you can add on to the base plan. The EssentialWellness plan is $16/month and the BestWellness plan is $26/month.*

     

  • If I leave my employer, will I be able to keep my coverage?

    Yes! When you leave or retire from your current employer, you can continue your coverage without interruption, subject to applicable law and the policy's terms and conditions. Although payroll deduction will no longer be available if you retire or leave your company, you can opt for other payment methods such as direct checking or bank account deduction, credit card billing or home billing. Higher rates may apply.
  • What's not covered?

    No pet insurance company covers pre-existing conditions. But, if your pet has a pre-existing condition (for example, allergies) there are still thousands of other future health issues that pet insurance covers.   • When will coverage start?

    Coverage starts on your benefit start date (usually the 1st of the following month). There are no waiting periods*, so you can begin using the accident, illness and wellness coverage as soon as your plan goes into effect.

  • How do I file a claim?

    You can submit a claim through the Pets Best mobile app by simple snapping a photo of your receipt. You can also submit a claim through email, fax, or mail. Reimbursements can be sent via direct deposit or check. Plus, the easy-to-use Pets Best portal and mobile app give you real-time access to manage your claims.
  • How does my veterinarian receive payment?

    Typically, you would pay your veterinarian directly and then submit a claim. Pets Best will adjust your claim and reimburse you according to your plan. Pets Best can also reimburse your vet directly if the veterinarian allows.
  • What is the 24/7 Pet Helpline and how does it work?

    Every Pets Best policyholder has access to the 24/7 Pet Helpline! Chat, email or call a veterinary expert any time day or night to get your pet health and behavior questions answered.
  • Are prescriptions covered under my policy?
